Sherlyn would die in a bikini!

After beginning her first promotional tour for her new album ‘Dard-e-Sherlyn’ and charming fans at Kolkata , the ‘outrageous’ singer and actress Sherlyn Chopra enthralled her fans with another dazzling appearance at Dublin, the Irish Pub at the ITC Kakatiya Sheraton in Hyderabad this week.

The firebrand, who hails from this city and has even won the ‘Miss Andhra Pradesh’ beauty pageant in her college days, heavily promoted her two remixes of the “Dard-e-Sherlyn” title track by DJs Akbar Sami and Pramz, while donning her controversial trademark diamond-studded bikini top.

It can be recalled that her show organisers had panicked last week about the bold and flamboyant girl wearing this bikini top along with her golden hot pants that she has famously worn in the new superhit video of her remix album. Apart from expecting trouble from unruly crowds due to the skimpy attire, the organisers had felt it was very risky for her to wear the bikini top as it is actually studded with a couple of real diamonds on the sides.

“For the sake of safety, Sherlyn was provided eight bouncers besides the stage and four civil-dress security men in the audience in Kolkata,” informed her publicist Dale Bhagwagar. “But Hyderabad is her own city and she was much more bindaas while interacting with crowds here,” he added.

When asked about Sherlyn’s fixation with bikinis, Bhagwagar retorted, “If Sherlyn had her way, she would even die wearing a bikini”!

Following Hyderabad, Sherlyn will continue her tour with appearances at Chandigarh, Mumbai, Pune and Vizag.

But in a recent interview in Delhi, Hema Malini has hit at Sherlyn with stinging sarcasm and said that the newbie is trying to gain mileage on her name, attaching nudity to it. She said, “It’s (the video) very hot, haan? My God, I don’t even know why she’s (Sherlyn’s) linking me with a hot-hot thing. She’s trying to change her image maybe with my name. If she’s doing this, poor thing, I wish her success, for all those who see nudity will be happy. But my name is Hema Malini and that won’t change for anything.” When quizzed, Sherlyn’s publicist Dale Bhagwagar said, “I’ve known Hemaji as a wonderful person, and if she says Sherlyn is promoting nudity on her name, I dare not contest her opinion. After all, the video did receive 19 cuts from the Censor Board. If Sherlyn has a diva-like image, she can’t help it. You can’t ask a Madonna to be like an Alka Yagnik, can you?” He explains, “See, Sherlyn made this video as a ‘tribute’ to Hemaji’s “Dard”. Hemaji ki ‘Dus Numbri’ 1976 mein release hui thi. Unka dard uss zamaane ka tha. Sherlyn ka dard iss zamaane ka hai, jo ki har naujawan ko hota hai. Hum sab jaante hain ki yeh dard thoda sa emotional hota hai, aur thoda sa sexual bhi.” As of now, Sherlyn’s “Dard” has emerged a big hit, but the influential Hema Malini sure seems to be furious and upset. Bikini-babe Sherlyn mesmerises Kolkata

Sending the audiences in what her organisers termed as an “orgasmic frenzy”, the firebrand grooved two remixes of the “Dard-e-Sherlyn” title track by DJs Akbar Sami and Pramz with aplomb.

But the highlight of her appearance remained her controversial trademark diamond-studded bikini top. It can be recalled that her show organisers had panicked last week about the bold and flamboyant girl wearing this bikini top along with her golden hot pants that she has famously worn in the new superhit video of her remix album.

Apart from expecting trouble from unruly crowds due to the skimpy attire, the organisers had felt it was very risky for her to wear the bikini top as it is actually studded with a couple of real diamonds on the sides. “Luckily, the stringent security measures paid off and there was no untoward incident. The crowds cheered and danced with her while Sherlyn interacted with them, even asking them some naughty questions in between her songs. After the show, Sherlyn told me, she wickedly enjoyed to her heart’s content,” informed the actress’s publicist Dale Bhagwagar.

With the first leg of the tour emerging a success, the organisers are hopeful that the rest of it, spanning five other prominent cities of Chandigarh, Pune, Vizag, Hyderabad and Mumbai, moves as smoothly.

With Jade Goody on her way back to Britain from Indian reality show Bigg Boss after she was diagnosed with cancer, speculations are rife that item girl Sherlyn Chopra will take her place.

“For Sherlyn to say ‘yes’ to Bigg Boss, she needs a great incentive,” her publicist Dale Bhagwagar said in an official release. “She will agree to be on the show only if she gets what she deserves to be away for a full three months from the promotions of her latest musical success Dard-e-Sherlyn,” he added.

Sherlyn was earlier approached for the show, but she was dropped because she had asked Endemol India, the production house, to pay her Rs 30 million for her stay in the Bigg Boss house.

She had even asked the production house to allow cameras to be installed in the bathrooms of the house so that she could flaunt her vast collection of colourful bikinis and inner wear while bathing.

To this, Bhagwagar said: “With her characteristic boldness and flamboyance, she is capable of making the Television Rating Points (TRPs) of any TV programme hit the roof.” The publicist, however, made it clear that “Sherlyn won’t be interested in the show without the perks.”

It can be recalled that the practice of cameras in the bathrooms of such a reality show existed in UK’s ‘Big Brother’ earlier, until Shilpa Shetty got the practice discontinued two years ago, with a clause in her contract stating it went against her ethics and culture. But since ‘Bigg Boss’ found Sherlyn’s demands outrageous, she was out.

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, who won the Celebrity Big Brother in Britain, is hosting the show.
